The Chronicles of Boone County have been created to promote public access to local history materials starting at the founding of Boone County in 1799, and moving forward. The project is the result of Boone County Public Library's commitment to Boone County historical research, documentation, preservation and dissemination to the public.

The Chronicles are arranged to optimize natural language and keyword searching. However, a general page has been provided to allow for browsing by timeline or by subject.

At this time, the Chronicles timeline only exists through 1850, and research has been completed only through the first half of the nineteenth century. This was done to keep the project better focused. As more research is completed, the Chronicles will continue to grow, and more decades will be added to the timeline.
