Theme Kits

Theme based literacy kits provide the resources parents, child-care providers, and early childhood educators need to help preschool children develop early literacy skills while learning about the world around them. Each kit contains 10 books around a popular preschool theme, a related manipulative, one music CD or DVD, and a set of laminated cards with a number of activities. For more information about the Theme Kits contact the Early Literacy Office of the Youth Services Department at 859-342-2665 x8127 or x8128.

Loans

If you regularly teach for a Boone County school, you may apply for a special Teacher's Card. With a Teacher's Card you may check-out up to 30 items for a six week period for use in the classroom. These items may include books, records, or audio cassettes. Seasonal books and high demand items may be subject to restrictions.

Collection Request

You may also ask a Youth Services librarian to pull a group of items for a class project or program. Simply complete the Teacher Collection Request Form, and we will hold the materials at a pick-up location you choose.

Assignment Alert

We would like to put material on reserve when you assign a special project for your entire class. All you need to do is complete an Assignment Alert Form. This means that all the material on that subject will be kept at the Information Desk for use by your students in the library. This also guarantees that all students will have an equal opportunity to complete their assignments.

Class Tours

We invite you to bring your class to the library for a visit. Typically, this includes a tour of the library, stories or book talks, and time to check out books. We can also design a program to suit class projects or research. Arrangements may be made to pick-up library card applications in advance for children who do not have library cards.
