Overview

The Local History Librarian collects all available information on the history of Boone County and its families. As a result, Boone County Public Library has the most comprehensive collection of Boone County historical information. The collection includes:

  • personal letters and diaries
  • church records and research from local historians
  • digital photographs of families, events, and buildings
  • donated family files, county records, and cemetery transcriptions

The Local History and Genealogy collection is available during library hours. One-on-one local history and genealogy reference service is available by appointment. BCPL also provides local history reference service via email, phone and postal mail. Service charges include $0.25 per page copied, plus postage.

Donations

The Local History Librarian is always looking for photographs of Boone County places and people. Boone County Public Library also collects family histories and genealogies. Yearbooks of Boone County high schools are also accepted for inclusion in the Department.
