Boone County Public Library

The Boone County Public Library (BCPL) was established on 6 November 1973, when Boone County voters approved a measure to establish a library district. In March 1974, a site was purchased for the new library building in Florence. On 14 October 1974, the library opened its doors for the first time in temporary quarters on Girard Street in Florence. The completed building was dedicated on 20 June 1976.

Since then the library has expanded to six branches, as well as the Community Center on Wheels. Branches are located in Burlington, Florence, Hebron, Petersburg, Union, and Walton
