Steamboats

bcplfusion.bcpl.org_repository_sternwheeler_gordon_c._greene_february_1950.jpg Boone County was home to a budding steamboat industry in the 1820s. A total of four steamboats were produced at Big Bone between 1824 and 1827, when the white oak timber gave out.
