Library Card Types

Adult Card

To get an adult card, an individual must:

  • Be 18-years old or older
  • Live or own property in Boone County, Kentucky
  • Provide identification
  • Provide proof of residence or ownership (a post office box does not meet this requirement)

Juvenile Card

To get a juvenile card, an individual must:

  • Be under the age of 18
  • Have a parent or guardian who lives or owns property in Boone County, Kentucky
  • Have the parent or guardian provide identification and proof of residence or ownership (a post office box does not meet this requirement)
  • Have a parent or guardian's signature (for ages 15 and younger)
  • Have an official I.D. or driver's license (for ages 16-17)

Restrictions on juvenile cards:

  • Consortium video cassettes
  • R-rated videos or DVDs
  • CD-ROMs

Teacher Card

To get a teacher card, an individual must:

  • Be employed as a teacher in any public or private school in Boone County, Kentucky
  • Provide identification and proof of employment

Restrictions on teacher cards:

  • You may renew teacher cards on or after September 15th of the following year of issue.
  • A maximum of thirty (30) items at any one time.
  • (Homeschool and independent preschool/daycare do not meet this requirement)

Business Card

To get a business card, an individual must:

  • Work at a business located within Boone County, Kentucky
  • Provide identification and proof of address (a post office box does not meet this requirement)
  • Have a manager or owner's signature

Restrictions on business cards:

  • Cards must be renewed one (1) year from the month of issue.

Non-Resident Student Card

To get a non-resident student card, an individual must:

  • Live outside Boone County, Kentucky
  • Attend a public or private school in Boone County, Kentucky
  • Provide identification and proof of enrollment
  • Have a parent or guardian's signature

Restrictions on non-resident student cards:

  • Cards must be renewed by the last day of May in the current school year.
  • Consortium videos
  • DVDs
  • CD-ROMs

Purchased Card

To purchase a card, an individual must:

  • Pay $25.00
  • Provide indentification with address

Restrictions on purchased cards:

  • Cards must be renewed one (1) year from the month of issue
  • Payment of $25.00 is required for renewal
