- Your account number is the 12-digit number located on the back of your BCPL library card.
- Applying for Library Card
- You can apply at any of our six locations, or you can apply online if you are 13 years old or older.

- Reference materials do not circulate.

- Eligibility for Library Card

One free library card will be issued to individuals who meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
- Boone County resident
- Boone County property owner
- Teacher employed by a Boone County public or private school
- Business located in Boone County
- Student enrolled full-time in a Boone County public or private school
- Library staff member
- Library volunteer
- Resident of Lawrenceburg with a Lawrenceburg Public Library card
- Current card holder from PLANCK or SWON library, or NKU
- ** Individuals who do not meet any eligibility requirements may purchase a library card.
- Expiration of Library Card
- Library cards expire periodically to provide an opportunity to verify and update customer information.
- Passwords

Your password is initially set to the last four digits of your Social Security number or whatever four (4) digit number you provide. You may change it whenever you want.
If you've forgotten your password, call your local branch. Or, if you provided the Library with an email adress, click on the Forgot Your Password? link on the Patron Account screen.
- PLANCK
- PLANCK members include the following county public libraries: Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Fleming, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Lewis, Kenton, Mason, Owen, Pendleton, Robertson, and Trimble.
- Responsibility

The individual to whom a library card is issued assumes full responsibility for all items borrowed with that card. The parent or guardian who signs the application for a juvenile card is responsible for all items borrowed with that card.
It is the policy of the Boone County Public Library that parents and guardians, not library staff, are responsible for monitoring and approving the selection of materials made by minor children. Parents or guardians who wish their children not to have access to certain materials should accompany or otherwise advise their children.
- Suspension
- Borrowing privileges may be suspended for non-returned items, unpaid fees, a change in eligibility, or upon request of the customer.
- Adult Card

- Individuals, 18 years and older, who live or own property in Boone County.
- Must provide identification and proof of residence and/or ownership. (A post office box does not meet this requirement.)
- The individual to whom a library card is issued assumes full responsibility for all items borrowed with that card. The parent or guardian who signs the application for a juvenile card is responsible for all items borrowed with that card.
- Renewal: Three [3] years from date of issue.
- Restrictions: None.
- Juvenile Card

- Minors, birth through 17, whose parent[s] or guardian lives and/or owns property in Boone County.
- Must provide identification and proof of residence and/or ownership. (A post office box does not meet this requirement.)
- Must have a parent or guardian's signature.
- The parent or guardian who signs the application for a juvenile card is responsible for all items borrowed with that card.
- Renewal: Three [3] years from date of issue.
- Restrictions: Interlibrary loan service (ILL), R-rated videos and DVDs, and M-rated software.
- Teacher Card

- Individuals who are employed as teachers in any Boone County school, public or private. (Homeschool and independent preschool/daycare do not meet this requirement.)
- Must provide identification and proof of employment
- The individual to whom a library card is issued assumes full responsibility for all items borrowed with that card.
- Renewal: Last day of August following the month of issue.
- Restrictions: Thirty [30] items at any one time. No items for personal use.
- Business Card

- Businesses located within Boone County.
- Must provide identification and proof of address. (A post office box does not meet this requirement.)
- Must have a manager's or owner's signature.
- The individual to whom a library card is issued assumes full responsibility for all items borrowed with that card.
- Renewal: One [1] year from date of issue.
- Restrictions: None.
- Non-Resident Student Card

- Students who live outside Boone County but attend a Boone County school, public or private.
- Must provide identification and proof of enrollment.
- Must have a parent or guardian's signature
- The individual to whom a library card is issued assumes full responsibility for all items borrowed with that card. The parent or guardian who signs the application for a juvenile card is responsible for all items borrowed with that card.
- Renewal: The last day of June following month of issue.
- Restrictions: R-rated videos and DVDs, and M-rated software.
- Reciprocal Card

- Individuals who are registered borrowers at a SWON or PLANCK member institution, NKU, or Lawrenceburg Public Library.
- Must provide identification and a valid home institution ID.
- The individual to whom a library card is issued assumes full responsibility for all items borrowed with that card. The parent or guardian who signs the application for a juvenile card is responsible for all items borrowed with that card.
- Renewal: One [1] year from the date of issue.
- Restrictions: Interlibrary loan service (ILL).
- Purchased Card

- Individuals who do not meet any of the eligibility requirements for a free library card.
- Must provide identification and proof of address. (A post office box does not meet this requirement.)
- Must have a parent or guardian's signature if under 18.
- The individual to whom a library card is issued assumes full responsibility for all items borrowed with that card. The parent or guardian who signs the application for a juvenile card is responsible for all items borrowed with that card.
- Renewal: One [1] year from the date of issue.
- Restrictions: None.
- Fee: $80.00 annually.
