Book Sales
Book sales are held biannually (the third weekend of April and October) at the Main Library.
Books in Other Languages
Main Library, Scheben, and Florence branches carry some books and audiobooks for children and adults in Spanish. The library also has a few in Japanese.
Color Copiers and Fax Machines
The Library does have color copiers. Also, other businesses offer this service.
The Library provides a public fax machine at Main Library only. Fax pricing is listed the the table below, and payments must be made by credit or debit card - Visa, Discover, American Express, or Mastercard. Fax services are also available at other locations.

Computers and Computer Classes
A computer(s) with a laser printer is available for public use at each branch location. The Library provides Microsoft Office 2007 on most workstations, but staff support for this suite of programs is limited. You may sign-up for a computer in person or by phone for a maximum of one hour per day at most locations. After 5:00 p.m., you may reserve a computer for the following day.
Cost for printing in black and white is $0.15 per page, and printing in color is $0.50 per page. You may save files to your own storage devices. You may also purchase CD-ROMs for $1.00 each, or 1GB flash keys for $10.00 each, at all branches.
The Library also offers a series of computer classes, free of charge. Classes are offered every month except July, August, and December. Registration is required to ensure adequate seating for all participants, so please note the branch that offers the classes you wish to take and call to register.
Donations
Please bring any donation of books, videos, magazines, etc. to your nearest library branch.
InterLibrary Loan
If we do not own an item, you may request that we we borrow the item from another library. Restrictions on what may be borrowed from other libraries are set by them. Also, borrowing from other libraries is often done without charge to you, but fees may apply for specific items.
Internet Access
Public Internet computers are available at each BCPL branch. Please review the Library's Internet policy if you intend to use these computers. Wi-Fi is available at Florence, Scheben, Main, and Walton. Additionally, Florence, Scheben, and Main circulate laptops for use within the building. Cost for printing in black and white is $0.15 per page, and printing in color is $0.50 per page.
Magazines and Newspapers
The Library carries more than 700 magazine and newspaper titles and also provides access to some full-text newspapers, magazines, and journals.
Meeting Rooms
BCPL offers meeting rooms for reservation at all branches. For more information about room capacity and restrictions, please check our meeting rooms page.
Notary Public
The Library does not offer this service. However, ask at your bank if they have a notary public on staff.
Office Equipment
- Black-and-white copiers at 15 cents per page.
- Typewriter at Main Library only.

Research Help
Librarians are always ready to help. If you have a question, you can always call us at 342-BOOK(2665) or email us. Or, if you would prefer help in person, you can schedule a one-on-one reference session. The Library also subscribes to many electronic resources.
Services for People with Disabilities
- All of our buildings are wheelchair accessible.
- The Main Library has a wheelchair and a walker available for those in need.
- All public computers have the Magnifier, On-screen keyboard and Narrator that come with Windows.
- A computer with adaptive technology is available at Main. This computer has screen reader software, dictation capabilities and can be used with a modified keyboard or mouse.
- We also offer a homebound delivery program.
- The Library does not have books in braille, but we do have a wide selection of books on cassette or CD.

Speakers Bureau
Need a speaker for your Boone County group or organization? Boone County Public Library is pleased to offer a Speakers Bureau. Library staff members are available to present a wide range of interesting and informative topics - free of charge.
Volunteering at the Library
Complete a volunteer or, if you're a teen, a volunteen application form, and we will notify you if we have any volunteer opportunities.
