If words could describe Haruhi Suzumiya, you’d probably choose words like “weird,” “rude,” and “arrogant.” And yet, she and this anime of hers have an inexplicable charm about them.

I mean, who wouldn’t love a stylish anime filled with cute time travelers, book nerdy aliens, handsome espers, and Haruhi Suzumiya, a high school girl who unknowingly has the supernatural power to achieve anything and everything, and even to alter the universe itself?

Action abounds, both abroad and within the homes of the Gatekeepers. As the search for the fifth Gatekeeper continues, the evil aura of the Old Ones continues to plague the world. Is this the end of the world as we knew it? Or will five teenagers be able to save us from destruction?

Is the Thirteenth Child really unlucky? Eff is such a child, while her brother is the seventh son of a seventh son, therefore signaling that he is destined to greatness. But Eff wonders if she can really escape the stigma that her birth order gave her. Is she really as unlucky as everyone says? Patricia C. Wrede is the author of many teen fantasy books, and Thirteenth Child promises not to disappoint her fans.
