Explore the outdoors at Family Nature Day!

Get outdoors and explore our backyard through hands-on ac
tivities for all ages at this FREE event on Saturday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Boone Woods Park, 6000 Veterans Way in Burlington.

Discover what life lurks in the water of our creek beds, examine local fossils and wildlife,
and learn how to conserve natural resources. We have an action-packed day planned with  participating organizations providing lots of fun activities to get you enjoying the great outdoors. There will be a nature scavenger hunt with the Boone Conservancy, Fishing 101 with the KY Department of Fish and Wildlife, water sampling and kick nets with the KY Division of Water, make your own bird feeder with Wild Birds Unlimited, and much more!

Get friendly with bugs with forensic entomologist Dr. Greg Dahlem, reptiles of all sorts with Marc Frevola and the Arrowhead Reptile Rescue, fish and mussels of the Ohio River with the Thomas More Field Biology Station. Learn about herbal remedies, native plants, fossils, solar energy, and the water cycle. Did we mention FREE hot dogs?

Family Nature Day is going to be a great time for the whole family! Boone County Public Library and Boone County Parks Department have teamed up to present this fun and educational family program featuring local environmental organizations.
