All BCPL buildings will be closed beginning Monday, November 23 but our touchless Curbside Pick-up service will still be available.
After the Governor’s new executive order was released on November 19, the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives provided guidance to libraries that we should close our buildings to in-person visits and move back to touchless Curbside Pick-up at least until December 13, the expiration date on the order.
Touchless Curbside Pick-Up is available at all our locations during open hours. Browse our catalog from home and place items on hold using your library card. Once you are notified that your items are available, come to the library (whichever branch you selected) and park in one of the designated spaces, call us at 859-342-2665 and choose your location in the menu. (Hebron customers, please go to the drive-through.) We will check your items out, bring them to your vehicle and place them in your trunk. Be sure to have your library card number with you. To see how Curbside Pick-up works, you can watch our touchless Curbside Pick-up video.
While we are unable to meet in-person, the Library is using various digital platforms such as Facebook Live, YouTube, Zoom, Discord and Roll20 to bring you a few of the activities you would normally have enjoyed at our locations. It’s the next best thing to actually being in our buildings. Read Face to Face with the Library…Well Sort Of to learn more about the platforms. And guess what…you don’t have to be tech savvy! Check out our events calendar for more information.
Digital Access Card
If you do not already have a library card, we have created a temporary Digital Access Card you can sign-up for at home to utilize our digital collections. Please note that digital cards expire after 6 months. There is so much to explore in our Digital Library. Be sure to check out our Homework Help Resources for Kids and Teens, Watch Your Favorite British TV Shows with Acorn TV, practice Smart Holiday Shopping with the Consumer Reports Buying Guide, Learn a New Language with Mango, and so much more!
Browse our Collection from Home
Not physically coming into the Library can be challenging if you enjoy browsing our collection to find a book or movie that you would never have looked for by name. This is a little harder to do through our catalog, but read Browse our Collection Without Leaving Home for suggestions.
Every location has a drop box for returning items without leaving your car. In following CDC guidelines, we are quarantining returned materials to reduce the potential for contamination. After returning an item, it will take several days before it is removed from your account. You will not accrue any overdue fines. Fines for overdue materials will continue to be waived until further notice.
We are available by phone, email, or social media to answer any library-related questions that you may have. Check our website and social media platforms for future updates.
